Google About To Solve The Issue For Online Video Ads

16 February, 2008

Google HQIt is really hard to earn a lot of money with an online video site today. The issue with the monetization is, oddly enough, not that advertisers do not believe in it (they do), or not that it’s not effective (it is). The issue at this moment is that today, very often, video ads are just not availble. Most advertisers have their agency develop banners, buttons and textlinks, but a video ad is not part of the standard package. However, that might be about to change.

Google will start tests with video ads soon - on Read on

And the latest tech company moving into advertising is…. Nokia

12 February, 2008

NokiaAt the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia offcially announced the “Nokia Media Network”. This network consists of a broad range of mobile websites, obviously Nokia’s own properties, but also a selection of well over 50 partners. Nokia will sell advertising space on the mobile pages of this network.

These partners are either network operators or publishers that have a mobile variant of their main website - you should think of well known publishers like Hearst (Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping), Reuters and Discovery, as well as specialist companies like AccuWeather. Going into mobile ad sales may seem a big step for Nokia, but does not come completely unexpected - remember that last year, the company acquired

Age of Conversation

6 February, 2008

The age of conversationSomehow I never got around to writing about this before, but over the past months I have received, read, given away and bought again some copies of “The Age of Conversation“. It is a remarkable book with many authors, each giving a very personal view on the topic of conversation - in the broadest sense. As an internet publisher I engage in a conversation with many thousands of visitors each day. Marketing managers have conversations with the audiences they try to reach (check out this great short movie to see that illustrated nicely). The audience tries to start conversations with brands and companies - sometimes even succeeding. Mainstream media, the web, blogs, all part of a large conversation.

Sequel

I got the book from a friend, at just the right time. It was very helpful in Read on
