In the Belgian online Video advertising market, we are seeing repurposed TV advertisements surface on all video sites, and very few creatives that were actually made specifically to be shown in online environments.
An additional issue is that we get in a lot of 30 second ads, which is really quite long for pre-roll advertising that precedes the content. However, it seems that TV ads are moving from 30 seconds to shorter formats, so there may be some convergence there.

Microsoft has announced a strategic partnership with Russian company VimpelCom to deliver their Mediaroom interactive television service to the Russian audience. The IPTV service, Corbina TV, will be operated by Corbina Telecom, a Vimpelcom subsidiary. It will be the first Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV service in Russian. VimpleCom has about 50 million subscribers in greater Russia. Corbina Telecom operates in 25 Russian regions, primarily as a DSL/fibre-optic voice and data provider. According to Dmitry Malov of Corbina Telecom “the Corbina Telecom fibre-optic network reaches almost every apartment building in Moscow and many other Russian cities”.

According to a recently released study by IDC, the U.S. Internet Advertising 2008-2012 Forecast and Analysis, overall Internet advertising revenue will double from $25.5 billion in 2007 to $51.1 billion in 2012. During the forecast period, Internet advertising will grow about eight times as fast as advertising at large.
The Internet will go from the number 5 medium all the way to the number 2 medium in just 5 years, says the report, making it bigger than newspapers, bigger than cable TV, bigger even than broadcast TV, and second only to direct marketing.

Apart from Euro 2008, my main reason for having a quiet time on this blog is my latest geeky purchase - the Sonos digital music system. Now that I’ve had this in my house for about a month I figured it is time to share my experiences with those of you that care (if you don’t, stop reading ;)). I came across the Sonos system when visiting a friends’ house a while back (thanks for infecting me Dirk) and I was immediately impressed with the quality and responsiveness of the system.
Ever since I have given away my thousands of CD’s a couple of years ago and started buying digital, I have tried to access my digital music in the living room via Windows XP and Vista Mediacenters (not a great interface for large libraries, needs a PC to be always on) , Xbox (too noisy) and an Apple TV (could only sync 40 gigabytes to hard disk). I have a 280 GB collection so I was never quite satisfied with all of those solutions.
